What we are…

All local Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) are members of The Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC) which was founded in 1968 by Reverend Troy Perry. UFMCC has grown into a denomination of over 400 churches in twenty two countries throughout the world. Worldwide membership has surpassed 46,000. UFMCC started as, and continues to be primarily, an outreach to the LGBT communities. We know and believe that God made us and loves us all just as we are!

Metropolitan Community Church in Naples had its beginnings on January 7th, 2003. Rev. Todd Goewey, Interim District Coordinator, and Rev. Elder Gillian Storey, Elder of UFMCC Region 7, helped guide and direct a small group of 16 people interested in serving God.
In July 2004 we became an official UFMCC member. We are happy to serve with our family of 23 other MCC churches in Florida. There are MCC churches within an hour’s drive, but we feel strongly that the population of Naples deserves to have a local church to meet the needs of our community.

Who we are…

Celebration MCC is a Christian church, proclaiming the unconditional love and justice of God found in Jesus Christ. By God’s grace, we are an inclusive church – Open and Affirming of all people.  In Christ, we declare, celebrate, and embrace the rich diversity of God’s good creation.

By God’s empowerment, we will be a responsive church.  We commit ourselves to be a church working toward social justice, mercy, and peace so that lives may be renewed, spirits revived and the world transformed.

Celebration MCC takes very seriously “The Priesthood of All Believers,” (1 Peter 2: 9)

…..you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood…you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own, that you may proclaim the mighty acts of the one who called you out of darkness into God’s marvelous light. (1 Peter 2: 5-10)

At Celebration MCC, we are Special People of God, called to fulfill a prophetic ministry within the church.  We bring together Christians and faith seekers of diverse traditions into a healing family of faith.  We welcome all fair minded people striving together in the name of Christ to support each other and create a better world.

Why we are…

Today there is great debate in society and in churches between pro-gay/fair-minded people and those who attempt to suppress our spirituality and alienate us from the empowering love of God.

Many have been separated from the church by the faulty rationale of homophobic religious leaders and the distorted and abusive use of the Bible.

Our aim is to embody God’s love for ALL people.  To reach out to the LGBT community who have been abused and oppressed by religion.  Our goal is to accept you, care about you and help you to feel validated as a person of worth.

Celebration MCC provides an opportunity for you to deepen your spirituality and grow closer to God  by becoming involved.  You can share your talents and spiritual gifts in many areas.  Some of these areas are:

Lay Ministry: Greeters, Ushers, assist minister with communion

Readers: Scripture readings

Musical Ministry: Singers, Pianists, other musicians

Advertising: Connections with  organizations & groups, etc.

Social Committee: Refreshments for services, meetings & Special Events

We provide social opportunities with friendly people.
